Using Windex has as much connection as to the fault, as asking what colour car you have in the pathway outside. When cleaning, you have most likely disturbed either the ribbon cable at the rear of the screen, or put slightly too much pressure on the display itself as you wiped it (it varies, but sometimes the slightest press can cause permanent damage). There are no big gaps at the side of any TFT displays, the panles are very very close, and all have a metal casing to keep the panels close together - if a panel moves even 1/1000 of a mm away from the others, your display will go crazy. I use car interior foam cleaner rather than windex (well im not in the USA and ive never seen windex around here). Easiest thing for any faulty laptop screen, is just find a faulty oerth one and swap screens. Screens are expensive, but are seen as rubbish on an old yard-sale broken thing.
