2. Delete the contents under the folders below:
All files under x:\Documents and Settings\user name\Cookies\ (preserve index file)
All files under x:\Documents and Settings\user name\Local Settings\Temp\ (user temp files)
All files under x:\Documents and Settings\user name\LocalSettings\TemporaryInternet Files\ (page files)
All files under x:\Documents and Settings\user name\Local Settings\History\ (history records)
All files under x:\Documents and Settings\user name\Recent\ (shortcuts of recently browsed files)
All files under x:\WINDOWS\Temp\
x:\WINDOWS\ServicePackFiles (backup files after updating SP1 or SP2)
Compressed files under x:\WINDOWS\Driver Cache\i386 (backup files of drivers)
All files under x:\WINDOWS\SoftwarEDistribution\download
3. If you update Windows system, then you could delete these files:
Al hidden files starting with $u... under x:\windows\
4. Defragment the disk, and during the cleaning process, please exit all running applications.
5. After defragment, “Start”—“Programs”—“Accessories”—“System recovery”—“Create a recovery point” (you’d better to name it with current date).
