rease system speed, after using for a period of time, the files under the prefetch folder become quite large, which needs system take more time to search. Besides, some applications would produce some dead link files, which aggravates system searching load. Therefore, it’s necessary to delete these prefetch files periodically. The prefetch files are under the folder “Prefetch” of Windows XP system folder. And all files under it could be deleted.
19. Compressed NTFS drive, file or folder: if your disk uses NTFS file system format, and there’s really little space, then you could consider enabling NTFS compression function. Right click the drive to compress—“Properties”—“General”—“Compress disk to save space”, and then click “OK”. Choose the options needed in “Confirm property modification”. In this case, about 20% disk space could be saved. When compress drive C, it’s better to be under safe mode, as the effect would be better.
20. Disable Dr.Watson: to disable Dr.Watson, first start REGEDIT, and find the branch "HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\WindowsNT\CurrentVersion\AeDebug", double click the Auto key under it, and change the data value to “0”, at last, press F5 to refresh and let it take effect.
