4.1.3 Laptop power boot sequence (principle)
1) MAX1630/1361/1632/1633/1634/1635 series chips are DC voltage switch chips used to provide DC voltage for movable electrical equipment such as laptop. This kind of chip works in switch working mode by external MOSFET, you could choose boot sequence of different output voltages, and give power ready signal at a proper time. With external resistance divider device, it could produce non 12V voltage flexibly (the so-called secondary feedback is to feed back the secondary voltage to the chip, which is from the mutual inductance coil or a transformer in the peripheral circuitry of the chip).
2) “5V LINEAR” is interior 5V linearity manostat, which is used to provide power for each working module inside the chip when start. After the chip starts up, the manostat would stop at a proper time, and as a replacement, 5V PWM manostat would supply power. On some motherboards, the voltage is provided by other parts of the circuitry.
3) “12V LINEAR” is 12V linearity manostat, providing 12V output. “3.3V SMPS” and “5V SMPS” are two PWM manostat or switch power, which are used to control four external MOSFET connection and disconnection, ensuring needed DC voltage could be produced. “POWER-UP SEQUENCE” is used to control the start sequence of “3.3V SMPS” and “5V SMPS”.
4) “POWER-GOOD” would provide low level at the endpoint within 3200 clock periods after chip starts up, later it jumps to
