One of the most annoying things about the Windows operating system is how a bunch of programs and utilities startup automatically every time you boot up Windows.

When you buy a new computer, you'll likely see a ton of icons loaded into the task bar. And don't you just hate it when you install a new software program and discover that it automatically loads each and every time you turn on the PC?

All of these programs loading automatically increases the time required for your PC to startup and places an unnecessary load on the CPU and memory usage which slows down your computer system.

Well, there is a simple way to take back control of your PC and prevent all of those unnecessary programs from loading until you're ready for them to load! The Microsoft Configuration Utility (msconfig) is the key!

Here is the step-by-step procedure for using msconfig to manage the programs that startup automatically:

Click Start
Click Run 
In the text box that appears, type msconfig 
Click Ok 
Click Startup 
Uncheck the boxes for any programs that you 
don't want to load automatically at startup
Click Ok 
Restart your computer when prompted to do so.  
That's all there is to it. Now, only the programs that you left checked in the procedure above will load automatically whenever you start Windows!
