Step 1: The start button is a little different in Windows 7, so click on the 'windows circle' then control panel then power options and change the power plan to 'Balanced' so you don't lose performance when plugged in.
Step 2: Click 'change plan settings' for the High performance option.
Step 3: Change the option 'dim the display' to 1 minute, 'turn off the display' to 5 minutes, and 'put the computer to sleep' to 15 minutes. You can choose to turn the brightness all the way down to really maximize power, but that's more of a personal preference than anything. Just don't turn it all the way up or you'll be right back where you started.
Step 4: That's it! You're done, unless you want to change the advanced settings, but we won't get into that here.
