Q:
I have a Dell Inspiron 6400 laptop, now I wonder whether the two buttons under touch pad have loosening problem except responding? I mean my laptop buttons seem to have some problem, as the response is a little slower.
A:
1): My laptop has a same problem as yours, but I don’t think it’s a failure, and it’s really difficult to diagnose the problem through network. What I can tell you is that my T60 laptop buttons would be more inflexible completely than the ones on your 6400. On this problem, I think you’d have to get used to it.
2): Generally speaking, if your buttons feel quite soft when press down, it doesn’t mean that your touch pad has something wrong with the buttons. Each laptop has its own touchpad button standard, and of course, it’s not depended on whether it’s soft or loose. It’s relevant with the button handle feeling and the size/spec of the two buttons at the both sides. And another point is the basic function, but obviously, you are complaining about its handle problem, you feel it’s too soft, then probably it’s your personal preference problem. If both the buttons are soft and there’s no any bad symptom, then it should be quite normal.
3): You may spend some time to accustom it. You can adapt or change your use habit. Adaption is to accustom to using these buttons reacting slowly. And change is to use mouse. You may only use touch pad when you are on a trip.
If you feel it a kind of failure and the sensitivity is a little low, then you can enter control panel to change som
