A: wrong! It should judge by actual situation, especially nowadays that large memory is very popular. To check memory usage rate, take a look at the memory column in task manager.
Generally, 512MB memory, according to actual memory usage occupation, we can set virtual memory 256-768MB (the sum of virtual memory and memory, generally, is 256MB more than normal occupation).
1GB memory, according to actual memory occupation situation, could set as 128-1024MB (RAM+virtual memory, generally, 256-512MB more than normal occupation).
If the memory is more than 2GB, generally, you could disable virtual memory (if there’s software limitation, you could set little virtual memory, such as 16-128MB). Some people would use large memory, such as to play big 3D games, make large pictures, 3D modeling etc.
Mistake three: the bigger the virtual memory is, the better it will be.
A: incorrect. Too large virtual memory not only wastes disk space, but also increase the time locates magnetic head and lower down system execution efficiency. No any advantage. Correct setting could save about 256MB-4G space. (Depends on memory size)
Here we take Windows7 for example, right click my computer—properties-advanced system setup—performance—setup, advanced—virtual memory—change…, cancel auto management, customize the size, setup, click OK. Exit and restart. Of course, same is for Vista system.
