Today I want to talk about the problems on searching history record of Windows 7 explorer, which involves user’s privacy. Windows 7 powerful search function is quite useful, but what’s troublesome is that all searching history records would appear in the dropdown list. If the computer is public, then security and privacy would be a big problem.
We can solve this problem by two methods: manual and software. Notice that if your system is of Windows 7 Home Basic version, then you need third party software to set up, which would be easier.
Modify Win7 system group policy manually
In Windows 7 system “Start” menu, type “gpedit.msc” to the “Search” text and press Enter to run. (or Win+R to “Run” dialog and type), open “Local group policy editor” window, take turns to open “User configuration”—“Management template”—“Windows Components”—“Windows explorer”, on the right side pane, find the item “Disable the display of the recent searched items in Windows explorer search text”, double click to open Property window, choose “Enabled” her
