Guys who see this title about moving system folder must have thought of Windows 7 optimization master or magic cube, with which we could easily move “My Favorites”, “My Documents” and some other system folders. However, what if to move the folder “C:\Users” completely?
Windows 7 user folder’s default location is system drive (usually drive C) directory “\Users”. The folder stores all user files, such as the files you saved on “desktop” (actually in C:\Users\your user name\Desktop\), or the files you saved in “My Document” (actually they are saved in the directory C:\Users\Ruanmei.com\Documents)
As there are more and more software installed in Windows, there will be more and more “files user forms” saved in the “User folder”. Type this “%AppData%” to the address bar in explorer and press Enter. Then you can see how many software there are saving the data user forms there.
The disadvantage if user folder is on system drive: once if system drive is broken, probably some user files would be lost together; secondly, as user files are on system drive (form continually as being used), there’s no way to back up “clean system drive” from time to time.
