Q:
Recently my HP laptop screen got such an error prompt “REBOOT, AND SELECT PROPER BOOT DEVISE OR INSERT BOOT MEDIA IN SELECTED BOOT DEVICE, AND PRESS A KEY”, why is this happening? Previously there’s such kind of failure prompt, what am I supposed to solve the problem?
A:
Your computer probably fails to inspect hard disk or the hard disk has problem itself, then before laptop enters operation system, it would prompt the error “reboot and select proper boot device or insert boot media in selected boot device and press a key”, generally, we have several solutions for this:
1) If the auto inspection function in CMOS could not find the existence of hard disk, then this failure mostly happens on the IDE (SATA) port on hard disk or connection adapter, disassemble the laptop hard disk, pull and plug the disk connection adapter again, then the problem would be solved quickly. Generally, hard disk is connected onto the motherboard by connection adapter, and there’s one or two screws beside hard disk interface for tightening, you need to remove them too. Be careful when assemble and disassemble it;
2) If your computer CMOS could inspect hard disk every time and fails to enter system, then you should format the hard disk completely, and then reinstall operation system;
3) By pulling and plugging the disk connection adapter again, if CMOS still fails to inspect the existence of the disk, then you can try changing the disk to take a test, which should quickly find out the problem. if it is confirmed the
