Q:
I have a HP laptop, running Vista system, now the problem is that my computer cannot visit the LAN in the area normally, what’s the problem? Hope to get your any suggestion and help, thank you very much!
A:
To diagnose LAN failure, you’d better to start from the failure symptom, make sure of the network failure range, then to find out the root of the problem and eliminate the network failure, and resume the LAN normal quickly.
1. Analyze LAN failure
Failure symptom means the embodiment of network failures, different failure causes, generally, would lead to different failure symptoms. When cannot visit the LAN within the area normally,
A) You should first check up whether the network is available to others, then judge whether the entire network has something wrong. If others could not get to Internet either, then check up Hub, switch or router to see whether they can work normally. Primarily you can observe whether their indication lights are on;
B) When these devices all have no problem, then check up whether your network card works normally;
C) When confirm the LAN failure is happening, you need to check up the LAN configuration, whether it’s ever been modified, or some operations irrelevant with network are executed. All these probably lead to the network failure.
2. Locate the failure range
When only your laptop could not get to Internet, then please right click “Network Neiborhood” to check up “Local connection”, whether it’s connected normally.
