I have a HP Pavilion zx5180US laptop, when I start the laptop, at the beginning it has something displayed, but later black screen symptom occurs. I found that if I press F1 key, then laptop would continue loading operation system, but if I haven’t pressed F1, then computer’s black screen failure would hold, stopping there till the cows come home; I thought it’s the problem of the operation system, so I format the hard disk and reinstalled Windows XP SP2, but the problem is still unsolved; why is this? What should I do to solve the problem? Do I need to open the laptop and reset CMOS?

1) Actually for the problem of this type laptop, the most possibility is that certain error of floppy disc or DVD-ROM causes this situation. Because of some reason, BIOS could not pass through the inspection, resulting in such situation happening. Then you need to press F1 to continue. In fact, the simplest solution for this is to change the BIOS boot sequence, setting hard disk as the first boot device, and there’s no necessity to reinstall operation system, because the failure has nothing to do with operation system;
2) If you follow the method above, then later still some strange thing happens to hardware, then please disable it in BIOS;
