Q:
I have a HP laptop, after reinstalling XP system, it gets something wrong: “My Computer” on system desktop cannot open, besides, sometimes even folders could not open, why is this happening?
A:
After reinstalling XP system, some files or folders could not be visited, the main reason is because the “Authority” of these files or folders is not current account, which leads to visit authority problem. The solution in this article is to use administrator identity to logon, and then modify the visit authority of these files and folders, letting current users take control of them completely.
1. Logon XP system with the user account of administrator identity, open explorer in XP system, and choose menu “Tools—Folder options”, open “Folder options” dialog, and click “View” tab on the dialog, cancel the selection of the checkbox “Use simple sharing”.
2. Right click the special folder originally designed, such as “CARE”, then choose “Properties” from the popup menu, at this moment, you can see there’s an additional “Security” option card on the dialog. Here you can see there’s an unknown account, usually, this is the original XP system account, which has the authority to visit the folders. But the problem is that we cannot use the account any more right now.
3. Click the “Advanced” button on the dialog showed in picture 2, “CARE” advanced security set
