9. Viruses, hacks, adware and spyware are all other sources of a slow internet connection when using high-speed Internet. You can protect yourself against such malicious programs by using programs such as anti-virus, spyware/adware scanners and firewalls. If worse comes to worse and you're computer is infected and you cannot wipe the infecting program from your system, backup any valuable information and then reformat the hard drive and re-install everything.
