Today I found a problem when modified my disk volume label: no matter what volume name I change to, it always showed the previous one. How was it? I thought about what configuration I had done recently. Suddenly I rememberred that few days ago, to close the “Auto play” function, I disabled Shell Hardware Detection, would it be the problem?
So why is the service Shell Hardware Detection?
Shell Hardware Detection system service is used to monitor the hardware event “Auto play” and supply notification. For basic server policy, the service is not necessary.
So let’s start the system service Shell Hardware Detection step by step:
1.Start—Run—keyed “services.msc”;
2.Choose the service Shell Hardware Detection option, double click to open it;
3.Change the startup type as “Auto”, and then click “Start” button;
4.Click “OK” or “Apply” button, save the modification done.
Notice: response would speed up if close the Shell Hardware Detection service, but the time entering desktop would prolong, and I suggest start this service and set it “Auto”.
