Q: I have a Dell 1520 laptop and when I turned it on a couple of days ago, the screen was totally dark. I could still see what is supposed to be displayed but only when my eyes are about 2-3cm away from the screen. I assume the backlight might have gone bust but I want to consult somebody before I order a new backlight. With an external monitor the laptop works without a problem. I bought it almost 2 years ago and about 75% of this time the laptop has been on (day and night).

Is it possible that the backlight is dead? or it is inverter bad, where can I order a new lamp from? Thank you in advance.
