My laptop probably will be activated every 5 minutes, this is when I do type word processing or browsing the web, and then this is a normal phenomenon? If not, then how long (the time) the fan will open it for Dell inspiron 6400? How can I do to control my laptop’s fans? Is there a better control options to balance the fan running or stop the system of heat it?

A:
1): If your laptop overheating enough to allow the fan to start up and cool down, then this should be normal, of course, this is not a normal phenomenon, especially if you plan to let fans to run more slowly, or turn it off. But if you want to do, then you can use i8kfangui to let you control the fan and monitor the temperature of  Dell notebook computers.

2): I propose that, in that you have the fan stopped running, you can use some simple procedures to check the temperature of your notebook. And then monitor the temperature of your POST up to enable more people to help you.
Of course, you can control your fan speed, you can use Speedfan or you can go into the BIOS to see if the control options, but personally I feel the former is better. For the average laptop, if the temperature exceeds a fixed value, then the fan will automatically start to cool down the brakes

3) These temperatures should still fall within the normal range, the hard disk temperature of about 52C or so, this temperature is a normal value, overheating problem may be due to a damaged exhaust ventilation hole or holes caused by dust covers . Then if you still insist that allow the fan to open the case, is to try to upgrade from the Dell Support Center to update your BIOS, then you should be careful when doing so, and carefully follow its instructions or other to operate, you can run one, such as programs such as Speedfan or I8fan to control your fan speed.

4): You do not worry too much about the fan which is independently controlled by the system, if you are running less, when the process of resource accounts, the system will automatically turn off fans, in order to save some resources, and when you run some CPU a great program load time, the fan will start automatically and continuously to the CPU cooling, so as to maintain the normal operation of the system, which is the operation of the entire notebook functions, if the fan fails, then the system will not continue to run down will automatically shut down. So that a variety of fan failures, such as: fan modules above by the amount of dust cover, preventing normal heat dissipation, as well as the existence of its own cooling fan design features defective and could not have a good cooling performance, it will also result in such a problem. Generally speaking, in addition to the system will automatically have a fan outside the control, you can also use other programs to control your fan is running, and now there are many outside the program can be used to control the fan, you can even timing, set speed to develop your fan to run the table, you can also set it to continuous low-speed operation, or continuous high-speed operation and other settings, so you can make your system running at a good, hoping to help you!
